SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday said Jammu and Kashmir is expected to experience mainly dry weather over the coming days, with only a brief spell of very light snowfall likely over isolated higher reaches of north Kashmir next week.
As per the MeT forecast, the Union Territory will witness generally dry conditions on October 17, 19, and 20, while October 18 and 21 may see partly to generally cloudy skies during the afternoon or evening hours.
A short spell of very light snowfall over isolated higher reaches of north Kashmir is possible on October 21, the department said. The weather is likely to remain partly to generally cloudy but dry between October 22 and 23, with another chance of light snowfall over the upper reaches of north Kashmir on October 24. Conditions are expected to turn mostly dry again on October 25 and 26.
Meanwhile, minimum temperatures stayed above normal across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to MeT data, night temperatures in the Kashmir division were 1–3°C above normal, while those in the Jammu division were 0–2°C higher than the seasonal average.
The hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the Valley at 3.8°C, while Banihal registered the lowest in the Jammu region at 6.7°C.
