Srinagar, Dec 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has sought the intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to end the prevailing uncertainty over age relaxation in competitive examinations. The association said the issue has caused widespread concern among aspirants across the Union Territory.

In a statement, JKSA National Convenor Nasir Khuehami emphasized that thousands of students are facing anxiety due to the lack of clarity on age criteria. He urged the administration to provide immediate relief by extending age relaxation, noting that many candidates have lost opportunities in recent years owing to delays and disruptions.

Khuehami appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to take up the matter with the Union Government and ensure that the interests of J&K youth are safeguarded. He also requested Omar Abdullah to raise the issue at appropriate forums, highlighting the need for political consensus to resolve the matter.

The association reiterated that age relaxation is not merely a procedural demand but a critical step to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for students in the region. It warned that continued uncertainty could lead to frustration and loss of trust among aspirants.

JKSA concluded its statement by calling for urgent action, stressing that timely intervention by the leadership is essential to restore confidence among the student community and uphold the principles of justice and equity.
