JMC Assures Swift Relief and Clean-Up Measures

JAMMU: Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr. Devansh Yadav, today conducted a comprehensive tour of several wards to assess the damage caused by continuous heavy rainfall over the past two days. The torrential downpour has severely affected low-lying areas, disrupting normal life and inundating many households with floodwater and debris.

Dr. Yadav visited key locations including Rajendra Nagar, Canal Head, areas surrounding Peerkhu Temple, Rajiv Nagar University, and Gujjar Nagar near the Tawi River. At each site, he interacted with residents, listened to their grievances, and assured prompt action from JMC to restore civic amenities across the city.

The heavy rainfall led to widespread submergence of homes and streets, with large deposits of mud and silt inside residential premises. Acknowledging the urgency, Dr. Yadav directed officers and field teams to complete cleaning and restoration operations in all affected areas within 48 hours. He stressed that no household should be left unattended, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of citizens remain the Corporation’s top priority.

To expedite relief efforts, JMC has deployed additional manpower and machinery, including earthmovers, suction machines, and dumpers. Sanitation teams are working round-the-clock to clear debris, unclog drains, and restore essential services in the affected neighborhoods.

To ease residents’ hardships, free water tanker services have been deployed across the city to ensure uninterrupted water supply. Dr. Yadav also announced dedicated helpline numbers for citizens to report issues or seek immediate assistance: 1800-180-7207.

“The Jammu Municipal Corporation is committed to providing swift relief to every affected household. Our teams are working tirelessly to restore civic amenities at the earliest. Citizens are urged to cooperate with on-ground teams and use the helpline to communicate their needs,” Dr. Yadav stated.

JMC continues to closely monitor the situation and coordinate with other departments for efficient response and mitigation. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant during the ongoing monsoon and report any emergencies to the dedicated control room.

Member of Legislative Assembly, Yudhvir Sethi, accompanied the Commissioner during the tour of his constituency.
