JMC Suspends 3 Employees for Negligence in Street Light Maintenance
JAMMU: In a move to enhance civic amenities, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav today chaired a review meeting with officers and officials of the Electrical Wing to assess the repair and maintenance of street lights across the city.
During the meeting, the Commissioner expressed serious concern over widespread non-functional street lights and noted lapses in timely repair and monitoring. He ordered the suspension of three employees from the street light repair wing, assigning them to the Kot Bhalwal dumping site until further notice.
Dr. Yadav highlighted the importance of street lighting as a key urban infrastructure element, vital for public safety and convenience. He noted that poorly lit streets not only inconvenience residents but also raise security risks, particularly after dark.
The Commissioner directed Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) officials and the JMC Executive Engineer (Electric) to ensure swift resolution of complaints regarding non-functional street lights. He stressed implementing a robust monitoring system, regular field inspections, and strict accountability for field staff.
Dr. Yadav further instructed adherence to maintenance schedules, emphasizing that faulty lights should be repaired or replaced within a set timeframe to ensure citizens are not deprived of basic facilities.
Reaffirming JMC’s commitment to improving civic services, the Commissioner urged all departments to coordinate closely to enhance service delivery and reinforce public trust in the city administration.
