JAMMU: In a bid to enhance civic amenities, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched a focused drive for the repair and restoration of street lights across the city. The initiative aims to ensure that every lane, road, and public space in Jammu is well-lit, boosting public safety, convenience, and overall quality of life.
To assess the implementation of the drive at the grassroots level, JMC Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav visited the street light repair camp at Roopnagar today. The camp saw active participation from former councillors, local residents, and community leaders, who welcomed the initiative and praised the Corporation’s citizen-centric approach.
During the inspection, Dr. Yadav engaged with municipal staff managing the camp and residents registering complaints. He personally reviewed the complaint registration system and assured citizens that their grievances would be addressed as a priority.
The Commissioner instructed officials to resolve all registered complaints within 15 days. Emphasizing accountability, he directed ward-wise monitoring of progress and mandated regular reporting on resolved cases.
Dr. Yadav also urged citizens to make full use of the facility, either by visiting the ward-level camps or by registering complaints online through the JMC portal.
Under this drive, street light repair camps are being set up in every ward of Jammu city, offering residents a convenient way to raise local issues. Simultaneously, JMC has strengthened its digital complaint system, allowing citizens to report problems online, ensuring a more inclusive, transparent, and efficient grievance redressal process.
Residents of Roopnagar expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that direct access to officials builds trust and ensures quicker resolution of issues. Former councillors attending the camp lauded the Commissioner’s proactive approach, calling it a step toward more responsive urban governance.
This campaign forms part of JMC’s broader vision to modernize civic infrastructure and enhance public services in Jammu. By combining on-ground outreach with digital grievance platforms, the Corporation aims to ensure no complaint goes unresolved and that the city’s street lighting network is restored to modern, efficient standards.
