Dr. Devansh Yadav inspects civic amenities; directs for enhanced sanitation and dengue prevention measures

JAMMU: Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr. Devansh Yadav, today conducted an extensive tour of various areas in Jammu City to assess the status of civic amenities at Government residential quarters designated for Civil Secretariat Darbar Move employees.

During the visit, Dr. Yadav reviewed the sanitation arrangements and interacted with residents to gather feedback on cleanliness, waste management, and mosquito control in the locality. He instructed the concerned officers to ensure proper segregation of dry and wet waste at the household level and emphasized systematic loading and transportation of collected waste for scientific disposal at designated sites to maintain hygiene and prevent littering.

Stressing the importance of preventive health measures, the Commissioner directed sanitation and health teams to intensify fogging and spraying operations in and around residential areas to curb mosquito breeding and contain the spread of vector-borne diseases such as dengue and chikungunya. He further directed officials to identify and eliminate stagnant water sources, clean drains, and ensure efficient waste disposal to minimize potential breeding grounds.

Dr. Yadav reiterated JMC’s commitment to maintaining a clean, healthy, and disease-free city and urged sanitation workers and supervisory staff to perform their duties with utmost dedication. He also appealed to residents to support JMC’s cleanliness initiatives by keeping their surroundings clean, segregating waste at home, and promptly reporting sanitation issues through the JMC helpline or mobile app.

Reviewing the existing arrangements, the Commissioner issued on-the-spot instructions to field staff to ensure daily lifting of garbage from residential areas and open spaces. He also directed regular monitoring of door-to-door waste collection and called for increased public awareness on waste segregation and hygiene practices.

The Commissioner was accompanied by Health Officer Dr. Vinod Sharma and senior officials from the Health Wing of JMC during the inspection.
