New Delhi, Nov 24: Justice Surya Kant was sworn in as the 53rd Chief Justice of India at a formal ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He is expected to serve in the office for nearly 15 months, overseeing the functioning of the Supreme Court and its judicial responsibilities.
During the oath-taking ceremony, Justice Kant pledged to uphold the Constitution of India and discharge his duties with integrity, impartiality, and dedication. The event was attended by dignitaries, senior judges, and government officials.
Officials highlighted that the tenure of the Chief Justice plays a crucial role in guiding the Supreme Court’s work, including hearing significant cases, managing judicial administration, and maintaining the highest standards of justice and fairness.
The judiciary reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law, transparency, and the protection of citizens’ rights under the leadership of the new Chief Justice.
