Navi Mumbai: Actor and UNICEF India Ambassador Kareena Kapoor Khan, along with Mithali Raj, former captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, led the ‘Trophy Walkout’ ahead of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 semi-final between India and Australia on Thursday at DY Patil Stadium.
During the event, Kareena highlighted the importance of promoting equality and rights for every child as part of UNICEF’s Promise to Children campaign. She also spent time interacting with members of the Indian women’s cricket team.
Sharing pictures from the stadium on Instagram, Kareena wrote,
“Being at the stadium today was so special… the energy, the cheers, the love for women’s cricket! Moments like these remind me why it’s so important to let every child, especially girls, dream without limits.”
The ICC also shared photos of Kareena’s cheerful moments with the players on its social media platforms.
In a thrilling semifinal, India’s women’s team stormed into the World Cup final after defeating defending champions Australia by five wickets. The victory marked a historic moment, as India completed the highest-ever successful run chase in Women’s World Cup history, overhauling Australia’s total of 338 runs with nine balls to spare.
Jemimah Rodrigues starred with an unbeaten 127 off 134 balls, while Harmanpreet Kaur added a blazing 89 off 88 deliveries. The duo stitched together a 167-run partnership, propelling India to victory and securing a final clash against South Africa.
