Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband Sunjay Kapur’s funeral will be held in Delhi today.
Sunjay Kapur Funeral: Karisma Kapoor made her first public appearance since the death of her ex-husband, businessman Sunjay Kapur. On Thursday morning, the actress was spotted at a private airport in Mumbai, leaving for Delhi with her children to attend Sunjay Kapoor’s last rites. Earlier, the late Sunjay Kapur’s family had confirmed in a statement that the funeral will be performed at 5 PM at Lodhi Road Cremation Ground, Delhi, on Thursday.
Sunjay Kapur passed away earlier this week in England, after suffering a fatal heart attack during a polo match. According to reports, the incident occurred when he accidentally swallowed a bee mid-game, triggering a severe allergic reaction that proved fatal despite immediate medical attention.
Samaira looked calm but serious as she stepped into the terminal, with Kiaan walking silently beside her. The children, now teenagers, have largely stayed away from public attention. The family did not pose for the waiting photographers and quickly made their way into the terminal without comment.
Though Karisma and Sunjay officially divorced in 2016 after a highly public separation, they remained connected through their children. Sunjay’s body was flown from London to Delhi, where the final rites will be held in the presence of close family and friends.
Sunjay Kapur funeral and last rites
Sunjay Kapur’s family issued a statement on Wednesday, wherein details of his prayer meet were mentioned. It’ll take place from 4 to 5 pm on Sunday, June 22 at Taj Palace, New Delhi. The note has been signed by Sunjay’s mother Rani Surinder Kapur, wife Priya Kapur, their kids Safira and Azarias. Karisma Kapur and Sunjay Kapur’s children – Samaira and Kiaan – also signed the note.
Sunjay Kapur was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 until their divorce in 2016. He married Priya Sachdev after his divorce from Karisma. Priya had a daughter, Safira Chatwal, from her previous marriage with Vikram Chatwal. In 2018, Sunjay and Priya were blessed with a son, Azarius.
