Kashmir experiences a sharp temperature drop as higher altitudes receive fresh snowfall and plains witness rainfall

Srinagar: Fresh snowfall in Kashmir’s higher reaches and rainfall in the plains on Monday caused a sharp drop in daytime temperatures across the valley, officials reported.

Snow was recorded at Sinthan Top in Anantnag, Affarwat in Gulmarg, Zojila Pass, Bangus in Kupwara, Razdan Pass in Gurez, and other high-altitude areas. Meanwhile, light to moderate showers were reported in the plains, including Srinagar city.

Daytime temperatures fell by nearly 10 degrees, with Srinagar recording a maximum of around 11°C on Monday, down from 22.6°C the previous day.

The Meteorological Department has predicted continued wet weather over the next 24 hours in the valley.
