Srinagar: Educational institutions across Kashmir remained shut for the second consecutive day on Thursday amid a flood-like situation triggered by heavy rainfall over the past two days.
“As a precautionary measure in view of adverse weather conditions, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg has ordered the closure of all schools, colleges, universities, and coaching centres across the valley on September 4, 2025,” an official spokesperson said.
Institutions had also been closed on Wednesday due to continuous rains that raised flood concerns in the region.
Although water levels in the Jhelum and its tributaries began receding on Thursday morning, several areas in Anantnag, Budgam, Kulgam, Pulwama, and Shopian districts were affected by spillovers at certain locations.
