Srinagar: Kashmiri Pandits marked Janmashtami with deep devotion on Saturday, taking out a vibrant procession in the heart of the city to celebrate Lord Krishna’s birthday, officials said.
The procession commenced from Ganpatyar Temple in the Habba Kadal area and moved through Kralkhud and Barbarshah, eventually reaching the iconic clock tower at Lal Chowk under tight security arrangements.
The city center came alive with festive spirit as devotees—including men, women, and children, some dressed as Lord Krishna—sang bhajans, danced alongside the chariot, and participated enthusiastically in the celebrations.
Special prayers were also offered for the victims of the recent cloudburst in Kishtwar district.
The procession continued through Jehangir Chowk before returning to the temple, officials added.
