KATHUA: In a coordinated humanitarian effort, the District Administration Kathua, in collaboration with the Indian Army, today conducted a special operation to deliver ration and essential supplies to residents of Chilla village, situated on the banks of River Ujj.

The village, home to over 15 families, had been cut off due to recent heavy rains and flash floods, which triggered landslides and washed away access routes.

To overcome these challenges, the District Administration and Army deployed heavy-load drones, which carried out multiple sorties to deliver dry rations, cooking oil, and other essential commodities to the stranded households.

“This operation reflects our commitment to ensure that no affected family is left unattended during this crisis,” said Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma. He added that the administration has intensified efforts to provide relief and support across all flood- and landslide-affected areas, including setting up special relief camps, supplying drinking water, offering medical aid, and restoring essential services on a priority basis.

The DC also lauded the Indian Army for its proactive cooperation in ensuring timely assistance to the stranded families of Chilla and confirmed that similar joint operations will be carried out in other inaccessible areas if required.

The ongoing relief and rescue measures are being closely monitored at the district level to ensure effective support reaches every household affected by the rain-induced calamity.
