Kathua SSP Calls for Enhanced Vigilance, Regular Search Operations in Vulnerable Areas

Jammu: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Mohita Sharma, on Thursday underscored the need for regular cordon and search operations (CASO) and long-range patrols in vulnerable areas of the district to ensure sustained peace and security.

During her visit to the mountainous regions of Billawar, Ramkot, Nangala, and Machedi, Sharma reviewed the existing security arrangements and directed officers to remain alert and proactive to thwart any anti-national activities.

She instructed all units to maintain close surveillance on overground workers and their associates, while emphasising the significance of frequent CASOs, intensified patrolling, and strategic long-range operations in sensitive areas.

Reaffirming the district police’s commitment to maintaining law and order, the SSP said no leniency would be shown towards anti-national elements.

As part of her visit, Sharma chaired a high-level security review meeting with the Army, CRPF, and other security agencies operating in upper Kathua. The meeting focused on issues including infiltration threats, movement of suspicious individuals, presence of anti-national elements, domination of infiltration routes, and inter-agency coordination, officials said.

Sharma stressed the importance of stronger inter-agency coordination and intelligence sharing to counter emerging security challenges and preserve stability in the region.

Later, the SSP visited the SOG Camp at Machedi, where she interacted with personnel from SOG Machedi, SOG Dugaini, SOG Katli, and officers of the Machedi Outpost, commending their efforts in maintaining security in the remote belt.
