NEW DELHI: Kia India on Tuesday expanded its electric vehicle lineup with the launch of its first locally manufactured EV — the Carens Clavis. The vehicle will be produced at the company’s Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh.
Until now, Kia has offered only imported EVs in India — the EV6 and EV9.
“Over the years, we’ve built a strong global EV portfolio, and we’re proud to bring that expertise to India. The Carens Clavis EV marks the next phase in our journey,” said Gwanggu Lee, MD and CEO of Kia India.
According to the company, the Carens Clavis EV is built on three key pillars: Kia’s advanced global EV technology, intuitive features for enhanced driving ease, and a unique RV (recreational vehicle) philosophy centered on movement, adaptability, and shared experiences.
The EV will be available with two battery options — a 42kWh pack offering an ARAI-certified range of 404 km, and a 51.4kWh variant with a 490 km range. Prices start at ₹17.99 lakh and go up to ₹24.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
Kia says the model supports fast charging, capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. The seven-seater EV also features Level 2 ADAS with over 20 autonomous safety and assistance functions.
“The Carens Clavis EV is designed for a nation driven by ambition and the spirit of togetherness,” Lee added.
