Javid Ahmad Dar Inaugurates Kisan Mela-cum-Exhibition at Baramulla
BARAMULLA: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Departments, Javid Ahmad Dar, today inaugurated a Kisan Mela-cum-Exhibition at Dak Bungalow, Baramulla. The event was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Baramulla.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said the Kisan Mela provides a unique platform for farmers, agricultural experts, entrepreneurs, and institutions to connect and exchange knowledge. It showcases modern technologies, government schemes, success stories, improved crop varieties, advanced machinery, and sustainable farming practices—all aimed at empowering the farming community and improving productivity.
Expressing confidence in the initiative, Javid Dar said that such events will significantly contribute to farmers’ empowerment and the promotion of sustainable agriculture in the region. He encouraged farmers to make the most of the exhibition by learning about the latest innovations, schemes, and practices designed to enhance their livelihoods.
The Minister also emphasized the need for strict monitoring of pesticide and fertilizer quality, announcing that check posts would be set up to regulate and inspect products available in markets. He warned that stern action would be taken against those selling substandard agrochemicals.
Javid Dar urged officers of the Agriculture Department to work with full dedication toward resolving farmers’ issues and to organize awareness camps at block levels so that farmers can fully benefit from both central and state government schemes.
Earlier, the Minister inspected various stalls set up by departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, and other allied sectors.
The event witnessed the presence of MLA Baramulla Javed Hassan Beigh, MLA Pattan Javaid Riyaz Bedar, MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar, MLA Uri Dr. Sajad Shafi, Director Agriculture Kashmir Sartaj Ahmad Shah, senior district officers, and a large number of farmers.
