New Delhi: As India gear up to face the West Indies in the second Test at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium from October 10, two of India’s star batters — Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul — are closing in on the 4,000-run milestone in Test cricket.

With India already leading the two-match series 1–0, the upcoming Test starting Friday offers both players a chance to etch another landmark in their careers.

Ravindra Jadeja, who produced a stunning all-round performance in Ahmedabad — scoring an unbeaten 104* and claiming four wickets to earn the Player of the Match award — is just 10 runs shy of the milestone. In 86 Tests, Jadeja has amassed 3,990 runs at an average of 38.73, including six centuries and 27 half-centuries.

The all-rounder has been in exceptional form in 2025, scoring 659 runs in seven Tests at a remarkable average of 82.37, featuring two centuries and five fifties. Following his prolific 516-run series in England, Jadeja’s consistency has reached new heights this year.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul, who ended his nine-year wait for a home Test century in Ahmedabad, stands at 3,889 runs in 64 Tests (112 innings) with 11 centuries, 19 fifties, and a highest score of 199. He needs 111 more runs to join the 4,000-run club.

Rahul, too, has been in sublime touch this year, scoring 649 runs in seven Tests at an average close to 50, including three hundreds and two fifties, with a top score of 137. His 532-run series against England earlier this year marked his most productive Test series to date.
