RAJOURI: Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm in Rajouri district today. The festivities featured a vibrant Jhanki Yatra that commenced from the Sanatan Dharma Sabha Ashram, passed through the Old Bus Stand, and concluded back at the Ashram.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Sikarwar, joined the devotees during the celebrations. A large number of people from diverse backgrounds participated, offering prayers and joining in the festivities. Devotional songs, bhajans, and chants in praise of Lord Krishna filled the town with a festive spirit.

The organisers expressed their gratitude to the district administration and police authorities for their support in ensuring the smooth conduct of the event.

Krishna Janmashtami commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The festival is observed with fasting, devotional singing, enactments of Krishna’s childhood (Jhankis), and midnight prayers, celebrating the divine moment of his birth.
