Kulgam Police Attaches Property of Notorious Drug Peddler Under NDPS Act
Kulgam,: In a continued effort to combat the drug menace, Kulgam Police has attached the property of another notorious drug peddler under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
During the investigation of FIR No. 85/2024 under Sections 8/15, 21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Qazigund, it was revealed that the accused, Cheki Badwani, a resident of Kurigam, Tehsil Qazigund, has been involved in multiple cases of drug trafficking and had no legitimate source of income. He is currently lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah.
The investigation further found that the accused had illegally acquired a residential property under Survey No. 797 min, valued at approximately Rs. 25 lakh, using proceeds from drug trafficking. Acting promptly, Police Station Qazigund initiated proceedings under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, resulting in the attachment of the property.
This move represents another determined step by Kulgam Police in its mission to eradicate drug-related activities in the district and dismantle the financial networks that support them.
The local community has widely appreciated the police for their relentless efforts against drug peddlers and their networks.
Reiterating the commitment to a drug-free district, SSP Kulgam stated, “Kulgam Police will continue its sustained action against drug peddlers and those involved in the illegal drug trade. These measures aim not only to curb the supply chain but also to dismantle the financial backbone of these networks. Our ultimate goal is to protect our youth and society from this dangerous menace.”
