SHOPIAN: Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) Shopian today organized an awareness programme at Government Upper Primary School Chek-i-Saidpora Bala Shopian to educate the public especially youth about prominent livelihood generation schemes of Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and the Jammu & Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP).
Member Legislative Assembly, Shopian, Shabir Ahmed Kullay while speaking at the event said aimed of such programmes is to make the people aware about the benefits of the schemes which offer financial assistance for self-employment ventures in manufacturing, services and trading sectors.
Other speakers also urged youth to avail the benefits of schemes for self-employment generation for their economic upliftment.
On the occasion, Divisional Officer J&K, KVIB KD, Srinagar, Raashid Qadri provided insights into the application procedures and the support available under these programmes and encouraged the youth of the area to take advantage of KVIB’s schemes to promote entrepreneurship.
He said that under PMEGP and JKREGP during the last three years, margin money of Rs. 11.49 Crores has been released by J&K KVIB Shopian for establishment of 529 units creating employment opportunities for 3968 persons.
Among others, DDC members, LDM, Cluster Head, J&K Bank, Xen R&B, ALC, DPM, NRLM, officers and officials of KVIB, civil society members and people of ST/SC in large number participated in the awareness programme.
