Leh: Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting to review the security situation in curfew-bound Leh town, reaffirming his commitment to protecting the rights and cultural identity of the region’s people.
Urging calm and cooperation, Gupta emphasized the importance of upholding Ladakh’s long-standing traditions of peace and warned that the Union Territory’s harmony and brotherhood will not be allowed to be disturbed.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Pawan Kotwal, DGP S.D. Singh Jamwal, ADG CRPF Rajesh Kumar, and senior officers from the Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said. Officers briefed the Lt Governor on the latest developments, preparedness measures, and coordination among agencies to maintain law and order.
Highlighting the critical need to preserve peace, Gupta made it clear that the administration would not tolerate any attempt to disrupt Ladakh’s stability. He issued a stern warning to anti-social and disruptive elements, stating that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to incite violence or unrest.
At the same time, he reassured citizens of the administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding their rights, aspirations, and cultural heritage. He appealed to the public to remain calm, cooperate with authorities, and continue upholding Ladakh’s traditions of peace, brotherhood, and mutual respect.
“Ladakh belongs to its people, and the government stands firmly with locals to ensure their safety, security, and prosperity. Together, we will not allow any divisive force to derail the peace and development of this region,” he affirmed.
Gupta also directed security agencies to maintain heightened vigilance, strengthen coordination, and respond swiftly to any emerging challenges. He reiterated that the administration’s top priority is to protect the interests of the people while fostering an environment conducive to growth and harmony.
