New Delhi: Former Prime Minister and noted economist Dr. Manmohan Singh has been posthumously honoured with the P V Narasimha Rao Memorial Award for Economics in recognition of his pivotal role in India’s economic transformation and nation-building.
His wife, Gursharan Kaur, accepted the award on his behalf at a ceremony held in the national capital last week, the Hyderabad-based P V Narasimha Rao Memorial Foundation (PVNMF) announced in a statement.
The award was presented by Montek Singh Ahluwalia, former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission and Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress.
Instituted by the PVNMF, the award celebrates exceptional contributions in the field of economics. PVNMF President K Ramchandra Murthy and General Secretary Madhamchetty Anil Kumar were also present at the event.
