Kargil: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, today underlined the importance of cultivating a scientific temper among students to shape a progressive, innovative, and knowledge-driven Ladakh. He said nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities in young minds is vital for building a society capable of addressing future challenges through science, research, and innovation.
The Lt Governor made these remarks while inaugurating the 52nd Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani (RBVP) State Level Programme, organised by the Department of Education, UT Ladakh, at the Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC), Kargil. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and teachers across Leh and Kargil, who displayed creative models and scientific innovations inspired by real-world applications.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Gupta said, “Developing a scientific outlook is the foundation of a modern, knowledge-based society. The future of Ladakh rests in the hands of young innovators who will turn challenges into opportunities through science and technology.”
He interacted with participating students and teachers, commending their creativity, confidence, and grasp of scientific ideas. He praised the Education Department for creating a vibrant platform that encourages students to move beyond textbooks and develop practical solutions to real-life problems.
Reiterating the Administration’s focus on educational excellence, the Lt Governor announced that 350 teachers from Ladakh will undergo specialised capacity-building training to strengthen the region’s teaching ecosystem. He emphasised the crucial role of teachers in shaping young minds and urged them to work with sincerity and dedication.
The Lt Governor also felicitated students who excelled in different categories of the exhibition. Urging the youth to cultivate curiosity and apply scientific reasoning in daily life, he encouraged them to channel their knowledge toward innovative solutions that benefit their communities. “Dream big, embrace creativity, and contribute to building a self-reliant and progressive nation through science and innovation,” he told the students.
In their remarks, Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, and Acting CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz, appreciated the efforts of the UT Administration and the Hill Councils to improve education standards in Ladakh. They stressed the need to enhance student performance, fill teaching vacancies, and continue special initiatives like winter coaching.
Secretary Education, UT Ladakh, Ms. Bhanu Prabha, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to ensuring quality education and improving the working environment for teachers. She highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at making the education system more inclusive, skill-based, and future-ready.
The event was attended by Executive Councillors of LAHDC Kargil, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, SSP Kargil, Principal DIET, Chief Education Officer, and a large number of teachers and students from across the Union Territory.
