Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday reviewed ongoing rescue and relief operations in Kishtwar’s cloudburst-hit Chasoti village, assuring full reconstruction of homes damaged in the recent flash floods.

Sinha directed senior officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to the affected residents.

“I have spoken to senior officials and reviewed rescue and relief measures in Chasoti, Kishtwar. I will ensure reconstruction of homes damaged in the flash floods,” the LG posted on X.

The disaster struck Chasoti — the last motorable village on the route to the Machail Mata temple — at around 12:25 pm on August 14, claiming 60 lives and injuring over 100 people. The flash flood swept away a makeshift market, a community kitchen for pilgrims, and a security post.

The calamity also damaged at least 16 houses and government buildings, three temples, four water mills, a 30-metre bridge, and over a dozen vehicles.
