LG Manoj Sinha: “Our prime objective is to improve lives and drive economic growth through innovation”
JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha graced and addressed the Annual Convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, today.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor urged young engineers and scientists to develop innovative solutions that can propel industries and the nation forward. He emphasized the need to transform scientific and technical knowledge into practical tools to ensure India’s leadership in innovation.
“Our prime objective is to improve the lives of people and drive economic growth through cutting-edge innovation,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Encouraging graduates to think boldly, the LG advised them to explore new frontiers, follow unconventional paths, and have the courage to venture into the unknown.
“Where there is fearlessness, there is invention. Where there is courage, there is new scientific discovery,” he remarked.
Highlighting the growing influence of emerging technologies, LG Sinha said that artificial intelligence and automation are still in their early stages but are now entering a new phase of rapid acceleration that will shape future development.
“India is already a global leader in key areas of innovation. We have succeeded in creating a dynamic technology ecosystem and will continue to lead the world in deep-tech ventures,” he added.
The Lieutenant Governor also outlined new opportunities emerging for young engineers and science graduates. He noted that demand for professionals in generative design, predictive maintenance, software development, renewable energy, green technology, defence, aerospace, biotechnology, automation, robotics, and healthcare is growing rapidly.
“Scientists and engineers worldwide are competing to discover new technological frontiers and create better, faster, and more efficient systems. You must carve your own space in this journey and leave a lasting, positive impact,” the LG told the students.
Referring to India’s vibrant startup ecosystem, he stated that nearly 89% of startups in the country are engaged in technological innovation.
“Through the Seven Pillars of the AI Mission, India is set to revolutionize agriculture, healthcare, climate action, and governance. This will be a golden era for graduating students,” he added.
Praising Bhilai’s historic contribution to India’s industrial growth, the Lieutenant Governor said IIT Bhilai should carry forward this legacy by shaping the future of technical education and serving as a driving force for national progress.
