LG Manoj Sinha Launches “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” to Strengthen Women’s Health and Empower Families

Srinagar : Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha attended the launch of the national health campaign, “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan – Healthy Women, Empowered Families”, initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The 16-day campaign aims to enhance screening, maternal health services, lifestyle counselling, yoga, and Ayush-based interventions for women, adolescent girls, and children. The event also marked the commencement of the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, celebrated nationwide from September 17 to October 16, 2025.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for dedicating the campaign to promoting women’s health and well-being. He urged all stakeholders to adopt a Whole of Government Approach to ensure the campaign’s success.

“A healthy woman is the foundation of a happy and prosperous family, which in turn builds a strong nation. This campaign is set to open a new chapter in women’s empowerment,” LG Sinha said. He emphasized that the Prime Minister’s holistic approach has strengthened Nari Shakti, positioning women as powerful agents of societal change.

Highlighting India’s rapid economic growth under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the LG noted that peace is essential for development. “Peace can only be ensured by dismantling the terror ecosystem. All sections of society must recognize that those who provide ideological and financial support for terrorism and propagate false narratives threaten both peace and progress,” he said.

LG Sinha further stressed that a Viksit Bharat requires a Viksit Jammu & Kashmir, achievable only when economic benefits reach the common people, not a select few. He called for widespread public awareness campaigns leveraging Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Anganwadi centres to disseminate information on health camps and services.

As part of the launch, the LG inaugurated a health camp, distributed medical aids, and handed over sanction letters under Mission YUVA to beneficiaries.

The campaign, led jointly by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD), aims to strengthen healthcare services for women and children across India. With over one lakh health camps planned at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, and other healthcare facilities, the initiative will focus on nutrition, health awareness, and overall family well-being.

The event in Srinagar was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo; Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Ms Mandeep Kaur; Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare, Shri Sarmad Hafeez; Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah; Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Shri Anshul Garg; Deputy Commissioner, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Shobhna Gupta; Mission Director NHM J&K, Shri Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary; and several other senior officials, women, and members of the public.
