Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Plays Key Role in Shaping Future-Ready Human Resources: LG Sinha
SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha delivered the inaugural address at the 22nd Foundation Day of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University via video conference. He hailed the university as a “beacon of knowledge, innovation, inspiration, and cultural pride of Jammu & Kashmir,” recognized not only nationally but also globally.
“Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is playing a vital role in developing human resources in line with global trends. Over the years, the university has emerged as an institution of excellence, nurturing minds and transforming lives,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Addressing a long-standing demand, the LG announced that non-teaching employees belonging to the lower middle level and below, who were previously on five-year contracts that were repeatedly renewed, will now be regularized, and the contract system abolished. “This decision underscores our commitment to fairness, talent retention, and professional growth. It strengthens the foundation of the university and provides employees with stability, empowering them to contribute with greater confidence and dedication,” he added.

The Lieutenant Governor congratulated the management, faculty, staff, and students for placing Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University among the top 100 universities in the country in a short span. He appreciated its transformation into a multi-disciplinary institution aligned with the National Education Policy, highlighting the increasing enrollment in programs like Design Your Own Degree, B.Tech in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and MSc in Data Science.
He called upon faculty members to foster a skill-driven learning environment on campus. “We have the responsibility of preparing the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, architects, and skilled professionals for the country,” he emphasized.
The LG also urged students to dedicate their skills and knowledge toward nation-building. He stressed that the true measure of education lies in societal prosperity and the development of India, and called upon alumni to contribute actively to societal needs and the university’s progress.
Paying tribute to those who lost their lives during recent natural calamities in Kishtwar and Kathua, he assured that relief and rehabilitation efforts are underway with full support from the Government of India, including the Prime Minister and Home Minister.
