LG Sinha Emphasizes Industrial Development as Top Priority for Jammu & Kashmir

SRINAGAR,: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, said the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s foremost priority is to accelerate industrial development in Jammu & Kashmir and bring the region on par with the rest of India. He made these remarks while addressing industry leaders at the 4th CII Northern Regional Council Meeting in Srinagar on Saturday.

“The big companies, corporate houses, and MSMEs across the country must pledge to take the industrial development of Jammu & Kashmir as their personal responsibility. The industrial ecosystem of India should actively support rapid industrialization in the Union Territory. Leading industrial houses should invest in J&K with the collective goal of ensuring complete integration and inclusive growth,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

Shri Sinha commended business leaders for their vision and reach, urging them to collaborate in realizing the dream of a developed India. “The world has shown increasing confidence in India. It is now the responsibility of industry to make our growth processes faster and more competitive,” he added.

Highlighting the importance of innovation and private investment, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for a focused approach to boost MSME productivity, exports, and the creation of an innovation-driven economy. “Micro and small industries in J&K have proven their global competitiveness. We welcome new ideas to expand industrialization across the Union Territory and promote new enterprises even at the Panchayat level,” he noted.

He further stated that next-generation reforms will greatly benefit MSMEs and handicraft units, contributing to the vision of a self-reliant India. Special emphasis was placed on private investment in research and development, particularly in defense, space, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors. “For a truly developed India, we must foster an innovation economy where growth and wealth are driven by new technologies and ideas,” the LG added.

The meeting was attended by Ms. Anjali Singh, Chairperson, CII Northern Region; Dr. M.A. Alim, Chairman, CII J&K; Shri Iqram Shafiee, Vice Chairman, CII J&K; Shri Puneet Kaura, Deputy Chairman, CII Northern Region; along with business and industry leaders, members of the Confederation of Indian Industry, and senior officials including Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, SSP Srinagar, and Shri Akshay Labroo, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar.
