Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, for approving the construction of 5,061 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G) in Jammu and Kashmir.
LG Sinha stated, “I am grateful to Hon’ble PM Shri @Narendramodi Ji and Hon’ble Union Minister of Rural Development, Shri @ChouhanShivraj Ji, for sanctioning the construction of 5,061 houses damaged by the recent natural calamities across rural J&K.”
He added, “This approval under the special PMAY-G project will restore safety and stability to thousands of households. A new home will help families regain economic stability and significantly enhance their overall well-being.”
The sanctioned houses will be constructed promptly, with priority given to those most affected by the calamities. The initiative aims not only to provide shelter but also to offer a renewed sense of security and economic resilience to beneficiaries.
Launched with the vision of “Housing for All,” the PMAY-G scheme is a key rural development initiative that provides pucca houses with basic amenities to eligible families living in kuccha or damaged dwellings.
