Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha extended his warm greetings to the people of Jammu & Kashmir on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day. In his message, he said:

*”My dear brothers and sisters of Jammu & Kashmir,

On this sacred occasion of our 79th Independence Day, I convey my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all of you. Today, we salute our tricolor with pride and honor the freedom fighters and founding fathers whose sacrifices made independent India a reality. Let us solemnly remember all martyrs, whose courage continues to inspire us, including the civilian martyrs killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

While celebrating Independence, my thoughts are with families affected by the recent cloudburst in Chashoti, Kishtwar. We are actively working through a Whole of Government Approach to provide relief and assistance to the affected families.

On this day, I also express my gratitude to our armed forces, CAPFs, and Jammu & Kashmir Police for their unwavering vigilance and protection. I commend the bravery and commitment of personnel involved in ‘Operation Sindoor’ and salute our soldiers and security forces for the successful ‘Operation Mahadev’. India has drawn a new red line: acts of terror will be treated as acts of war, and we will respond decisively. Let us pledge to dismantle the ecosystem of terrorism and make Jammu & Kashmir terror-free.

I extend my felicitations to farmers, workers, teachers, professionals, scientists, business communities, youth, and Nari Shakti for their contributions to the socio-economic growth of Jammu & Kashmir. With initiatives like Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan and Tiranga Yatra, the patriotic spirit of the people inspires the entire nation.

Over the past five years, Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed unprecedented development. Democracy has strengthened, prosperity has grown, and opportunities have expanded for all citizens. Rail connectivity, industrial development, empowerment of women and youth, and improved ease of living are transforming the region. Kashmir is now firmly connected to India’s economic and cultural progress.

As we celebrate seventy-nine years of independence, let us reflect on our achievements and renew our commitment to building the Jammu & Kashmir envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi—where every citizen feels ownership in the nation’s progress. Together, with collective participation, we can create a bright, peaceful, and developed Jammu & Kashmir.

Let us work shoulder to shoulder to build a Viksit Bharat. I once again extend my greetings to everyone on this Independence Day.

Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!”*
