Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday inaugurated the Joint Parcel Product–Rapid Cargo Service (JPP-RCS) parcel train at Budgam Railway Station, introducing a new facility for transporting goods from Jammu and Kashmir to New Delhi.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event, LG Sinha said the train will enable the transport of around 23–24 tonnes of apples and other perishable products directly to Delhi.
Expressing his gratitude, he remarked, “I thank the Prime Minister and Indian Railways for this initiative. With this parcel train, nearly 23–24 tonnes of apples and other perishable goods can now reach Delhi, which will be a significant contribution.”
He added that the service will reduce transportation costs, enhance connectivity, and provide a substantial boost to the Union Territory’s economy. “This initiative will better connect Jammu and Kashmir, ensure goods reach other markets at lower costs, and strengthen our economy,” LG Sinha said.
