LG Lays Foundation for 60 AMRUT 2.0 Projects Worth Rs 699.79 Crore

JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha participated in the ‘Sewa Parv’ celebrations organized by the Housing & Urban Development Department and laid the foundation stone for 60 projects under AMRUT 2.0, valued at Rs 699.79 crore.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor praised the Housing & Urban Development Department and Jammu Municipal Corporation for their efforts in promoting inclusive growth and enhancing urban infrastructure and services. He emphasized that sustainable urban planning and its effective execution on the ground represent a bold roadmap for the cities of the future.

“Under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, my mission is to ensure that no one is left behind. We will ensure that marginalized communities are included in the development process to achieve greater progress and prosperity,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor called for the adoption of sustainable urban infrastructure and the integration of smart technologies to make cities more liveable and vibrant, while addressing environmental challenges. He highlighted the Tawi Riverfront as a model of sustainable development, noting how it protected Jammu city from recent natural disasters and prevented flooding in surrounding areas.

He also urged the Housing & Urban Development Department to replicate successful initiatives like the Swachhata Internship Program and the Green Colony initiative of Jammu Municipal Corporation in other cities across Jammu and Kashmir. The Lieutenant Governor encouraged officials and citizens alike to cultivate a sense of ownership of their cities, strengthening their connection to urban assets and public spaces.

During the event, the Lieutenant Governor felicitated students under the Swachhata Internship Program for their innovative models and recognized Swachhagrahis for their exemplary service during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Beneficiaries of various government schemes also received sanction letters.

The Sewa Parv celebrations were attended by Shri Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament; Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, Rajya Sabha MP; Shri Bharat Bhushan, DDC Chairman Jammu; MLAs Shri Yudhvir Sethi, Shri Vikram Randhawa, Shri Arvind Gupta, and Shri Surinder Bhagat; Shri Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Commissioner Secretary, Housing & Urban Development; Shri Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary Culture; Shri Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu; Dr. Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Commissioner Jammu; Dr. Devansh Yadav, Municipal Commissioner Jammu; along with senior officials, NGO representatives, and large numbers of citizens.
