Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that while security forces are committed to dismantling the terror ecosystem, society must also play its part by actively countering terrorism. He stressed that terrorism is a multifaceted challenge and communities have a crucial role in identifying and reporting suspicious activities and resisting radicalization.

He cautioned that if people do not stand firmly against terrorism, it could become an existential threat, undermining stability, peace, and progress. Appealing to the “enlightened citizens,” he urged them to expose those who shelter terrorists or promote extremist narratives.

The Lieutenant Governor noted that terrorism has hindered peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir for more than three decades. However, he highlighted that today’s youth increasingly aspire to opportunities and goals on par with the rest of the country, seeking better careers and quality of life.

Speaking at the 19th (Second Special) Convocation of the University of Jammu, the Lieutenant Governor encouraged students and faculty to embrace change, strengthen research, adopt skill-focused curricula, collaborate across disciplines, and keep pace with technological and economic shifts. He emphasized the growing significance of artificial intelligence and the need to balance technology with human intellect.

He laid out five guiding principles for students:

Remain humble, eager to learn, and committed to strong work ethics. While degrees open doors, it is talent, determination, and adaptability that create future opportunities.

Be kind and compassionate. Skills may secure employment, but character, integrity, and trust build a meaningful career.

Never stop learning. The professional world rewards curiosity, experimentation, and the ability to turn mistakes into mastery.

Stay curious rather than simply believing. Curiosity paves the way for new paths and enables future mentorship.

Be resilient and flexible in reskilling. With the hunger to learn, the entire world becomes a university, helping transform ideas into solutions.

He congratulated the University of Jammu for its contribution to the nation’s educational landscape and commended the outstanding performance of women students across disciplines.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah, Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo, Vice Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai, members of the University Council, faculty, students, Members of Parliament Er. Gulam Ali Khatana and Shri Sat Sharma, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, senior officials, and prominent citizens.
