JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday felicitated organisations that operated community kitchens during the Amarnath Yatra, noting that the successful conduct of the pilgrimage demonstrates that “we are second to none in the world.”
The 38-day-long annual pilgrimage, which commenced on July 3, saw 4.14 lakh devotees pay obeisance at the shrine of Lord Shiva in the South Kashmir Himalayas.
At a felicitation ceremony held at the Spiritual Growth Centre in Katra, the L-G congratulated and expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the langar organisations. “Today’s felicitation of langar organisations at Katra also sends a message that nothing can surpass the spirit of India. The successful conduct of this year’s Amarnath pilgrimage, achieved through the unwavering dedication of all stakeholders, shows that we are second to none in the world,” he said.
Sinha added that the event stands as a testament to “our steadfast commitment to selfless service and a symbol of a resurgent India.”
The Lieutenant Governor also praised the Amarnathji Shrine Board, administrative officials, police and security personnel, service providers, NGOs, volunteers, health professionals, and all other stakeholders for their tireless efforts during the pilgrimage. He emphasised that every stakeholder must continue to contribute toward maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Reiterating the Shrine Board’s ongoing efforts to improve facilities for devotees, Sinha highlighted plans for a ropeway from Baltal to the holy cave, making the journey more accessible. He also noted that a total of 122 langars provided free services to pilgrims in the Yatra area.
