Srinagar: Terrorism remains the biggest obstacle to peace and progress, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Wednesday, urging people to assist security forces in identifying those who support terror activities.

Addressing a function at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Awantipora, Pulwama, the LG expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the November 10 Red Fort car blast.

“I pay homage to the victims of the terror attack near Red Fort and express my deepest sympathies to their families,” Sinha said.

He asserted that terrorism is the gravest threat to peace and development. “It spreads hatred and violence, weakening the bonds of unity and brotherhood among people,” he remarked.

Highlighting the devastating impact of terrorism on the youth of Jammu and Kashmir over the past three decades, the LG said, “Today, our young generation is realizing its dreams and aspirations. However, the neighbouring country and its terror proxies cannot tolerate this progress. They seek to destroy these dreams through violence.”

Calling for collective responsibility to eradicate the terror ecosystem, Sinha urged citizens to cooperate with security forces and expose those aiding terrorism.

He noted that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed remarkable improvement in peace and stability over recent years. “People have truly experienced peace in the past five to six years, and the number of peace stakeholders has grown significantly,” the LG added.
