Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu on Sunday to meet those injured in the recent Kishtwar cloudburst.
Speaking to the media after the visit, the LG said that 16 people are currently admitted to GMC Jammu, most of whom are in stable condition. “I hope all of them recover soon and return home,” he added.
Referring to the disaster, Sinha described it as a tragic event that claimed many lives. He said the administration is actively working to trace the missing, noting that 32 people are still unaccounted for. “We are making every effort to locate them and arrange for their safe return,” he said.

The LG also mentioned that ₹4.3 crore has already been spent on rescue and relief operations. “We express our deepest condolences to the affected families. This natural disaster has caused extensive destruction,” he said.
When asked about Union Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit, Sinha confirmed, “Yes, Rajnath Singh is arriving today.”
He added that assessing the situation on the ground is challenging. If weather conditions permit, the visit to the affected areas will proceed as planned; otherwise, it will be limited to GMC Jammu.
