LG Manoj Sinha visits Health Camp for flood-affected families in Samba, reviews restoration works

SAMBA: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha yesterday visited the Health Camp at Keso Manhasan, organised by the Health Department in collaboration with AIIMS Jammu, to provide medical assistance to families affected by recent floods.

Interacting with the people undergoing health check-ups, the Lieutenant Governor assured full support from the Government of India and the J&K Administration. He commended the Army, CAPFs, NDRF, and district administration for their swift response during incessant rains, which helped save many lives.

“The Government is fully committed to not only restoring damaged infrastructure but also ensuring complete rehabilitation of affected families. The recent calamities have caused large-scale destruction across Jammu, which the region has not witnessed in decades. While restoration will take time, immediate relief is our top priority,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

Highlighting the severe impact on the farming community, the Lieutenant Governor urged farmers to benefit from PM Fasal Bima Yojana and the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).

He also expressed gratitude to AIIMS Jammu for organising the camp and reaffirmed Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah’s direction to establish health camps in every Panchayat for flood-hit families. AIIMS Jammu will organise nine more mega health camps, while J&K Health Department, CAPFs, BSF, CRPF, and Army are also conducting similar initiatives.

Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor inspected the Devak Bridge near AIIMS Vijaypur, Samba, which was damaged due to heavy rains and rising water levels. He instructed officials to expedite restoration work.

The Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by Shri Keshav Dutt Sharma, DDC Chairman Samba; Shri Chander Parkash Ganga, MLA Vijaypur; Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Ramgarh; Shri Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Dr Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director AIIMS Jammu; Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu; Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary Health & Medical Education; Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range; Ms Ayushi Sudan, Deputy Commissioner Samba, and other senior officials.
