SRINAGAR, Dec 4: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today emphasised that the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) is vital for achieving equitable development and building a just society. He stated that the government is committed to ensuring equal opportunities, accessibility, and empowerment for PwDs across all sectors.

Speaking at a public event, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted that inclusive policies are central to the administration’s vision of growth. “Development cannot be considered complete unless it embraces every section of society. The inclusion of Persons with Disabilities is not only a constitutional responsibility but also a moral imperative,” he said.

LG Sinha underlined that the government has taken several measures to strengthen welfare schemes, improve infrastructure accessibility, and provide skill development opportunities for PwDs. He noted that these initiatives are designed to enable active participation of differently-abled citizens in social, economic, and cultural life.

Officials explained that new programmes are being introduced to expand educational and employment opportunities for PwDs, while existing schemes are being rationalised to ensure transparency and efficiency. The administration is also working to enhance healthcare support and community-based rehabilitation services.

The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that the government’s focus remains on creating an environment where PwDs can live with dignity and contribute meaningfully to the progress of the Union Territory. He urged civil society and institutions to join hands in promoting inclusivity and respect for diversity.

The statement has been welcomed by stakeholders and advocacy groups, who described it as a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to equitable development and social justice.
