Srinagar, Nov 29: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday announced that 189 three-room houses will be constructed within six months for families affected by natural disasters in Ramban district. The initiative is part of the government’s rehabilitation effort to ensure dignified and secure housing for all displaced families.

LG Sinha said the administration is committed to providing timely relief and long-term rehabilitation to disaster-hit households, noting that the new residential units will be equipped with essential facilities to help families rebuild their lives. He added that work on the project would be taken up in mission mode to avoid delays.

The Lt Governor emphasised that the government is prioritising vulnerable groups and ensuring that no affected family is left without proper shelter. He reiterated the administration’s resolve to strengthen disaster-response mechanisms and enhance resilience in high-risk areas like Ramban.

Local officials stated that land identification and preparatory processes have already been completed, and construction activities are expected to begin shortly. The new houses, designed to be durable and weather-resistant, will provide improved living conditions for families that lost their homes to recurring landslides and flash floods.

Residents welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that the project would bring long-awaited relief and stability to the affected communities.
