Leader of the Opposition Sunil Sharma has criticized the ruling National Conference (NC) for proposing an increase in power tariffs, terming it an “electoral fraud” against the people. Sharma stated that the move undermines public trust and imposes undue financial burden on households.
He emphasized that the proposed hike comes at a time when citizens are already facing economic challenges, and accused the government of using tariff changes as a political strategy ahead of elections.
Sharma urged authorities to reconsider the decision and engage in dialogue with stakeholders to ensure that essential services remain affordable for all. He also called for transparency in policy-making and public consultation on such matters.
The opposition leader reaffirmed his commitment to protecting public interests and holding the ruling administration accountable for decisions affecting citizens’ welfare.
