Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Sunil Sharma on Thursday criticized the government for the brief duration of the Assembly’s autumn session, saying it failed to allocate enough time to deliberate on crucial public issues.

“It is unfortunate that the government has restricted the session to just five or six days,” Sharma said, expressing concern that vital matters such as electricity, water supply, and road infrastructure require immediate attention. “People are still waiting for basic amenities. The government has failed on all fronts,” he added.

Sharma also took aim at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, saying the opposition had expected more from him. “It’s disappointing that he neither extended the session nor worked for the people’s welfare,” Sharma remarked.

Despite the short session, he asserted that the opposition is fully prepared to raise public issues. “We are ready to represent the people’s concerns,” he said.

On the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Sharma expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge victorious.
