Leh: The District Magistrate of Leh has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the serious law and order incident on September 24, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of four individuals during police action. Sub Divisional Magistrate of Nubra, Mukul Beniwal, has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The official order states that, under Order No. 03 JC of 2025 dated September 26, 2025, Mukul Beniwal has been designated to conduct a magisterial inquiry into the deaths of the following individuals:
- Mr. Jigmet Dorjey, So Yountan Chospel, resident of Kharnak
- Mr. Rinchen Dadul, S/o Tsering Morup, resident of Hanu
- Mr. Stanzin Namgail, S/o Nawang Zotpa, resident of Igoo
- Mr. Tsewang Tharchin, S/o Stanzin Namgyal, resident of Skurbuchan
The inquiry aims to ascertain the detailed facts and circumstances leading to the law and order situation, the police action, and the resulting fatalities.
The Inquiry Officer is required to submit a detailed report within four weeks.
Any person with relevant information, or willing to provide oral or written statements, or material evidence such as photos or videos, is requested to appear before the Inquiry Officer as per the scheduled dates to contribute to the investigation.
