Srinagar: Major General Tushar Sharma on Saturday assumed command of the Army’s counter-insurgency formation, Kilo Force, which is responsible for anti-terror operations in north Kashmir.
A defence spokesperson said Maj. Gen. Sharma became the 21st General Officer Commanding of the unit, succeeding Maj. Gen. Vivek Narang.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Maj. Gen. Sharma has held several important staff and command positions across diverse terrains and formations. He also brings with him extensive experience in counter-terrorism operations, the spokesperson added.
After taking charge, Maj. Gen. Sharma paid tribute to the fallen soldiers of the formation who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He urged all ranks to uphold the unit’s proud legacy through dedication, discipline, and commitment.
“He also underlined the need for maintaining high levels of combat readiness to effectively counter any hostile or nefarious designs of inimical forces in north Kashmir,” the spokesperson said.
