JAMMU: Government MAM College, Jammu, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Science, Technology and Innovation Council (JKSTIC), Department of Science and Technology, UT of J&K, observed Vigilance Awareness Day today to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life.
The event was held under the guidance of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), Government of India. Registrar, Cluster University Jammu, Dr. Ankur Mahajan, was the Chief Guest, while Shruti Khanna, Assistant Director, JKSTIC, was the Special Guest.
The celebration began with a welcome address by Prof. Varsha Kapoor, followed by the administration of the Integrity Pledge by the Principal, Prof. Archana Kaul, reaffirming the participants’ collective commitment to uphold ethical values and fight corruption in all aspects of life.
As part of the observance, Essay Writing and Slogan Writing Competitions were organized on the theme “Our Duty, Our Dignity, Vigilance for Prosperity.” The theme underscored that genuine prosperity is rooted in honesty, discipline, and a strong sense of moral responsibility.
In the Essay Writing Competition, Vidhi Sharma (Government College of Education), Anirudh Sharma (Government MAM College Jammu), and Ridham (Government SPMR College of Commerce) secured the first, second, and third positions, respectively.
In the Slogan Writing Competition, Soniakshi Sharma (SPMR College Jammu), Marusha Rajput (SPMR College Jammu), and Kajal Devi (Government College of Education) were declared first, second, and third, respectively.
The jury comprised Prof. Seema Sudan, Dr. Prem Singh, and Prof. Shivali Gupta.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ankur Mahajan emphasized the vital role of integrity in both personal and professional life, noting that vigilance is not merely an administrative exercise but a moral obligation that reinforces the foundation of a just and prosperous society. Shruti Khanna, in her remarks, discussed the key benefits and challenges of maintaining vigilance.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Jeevan Dhar, Convenor of the programme, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty in promoting transparency and ethical conduct.
Other faculty members present included Prof. Ruth K. Masehi, Prof. Menaka Rajput, Dr. Harbhajan Singh, Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Prof. Vibhutti, Prof. Swati, and Dr. Deewika Sharma.
