New Delhi: A security breach occurred at the Parliament on Friday morning when a man climbed the boundary wall, officials said. The individual was apprehended by security personnel and handed over to the police.

Sources reported that the incident took place around 6:30 am, with the man—whose identity is yet to be confirmed—entering the Parliament premises by climbing a tree and scaling the wall.

Multiple central agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Delhi Police’s Special Cell, are questioning him to ascertain his motives.

A police official said, “He used the tree to access the complex and has now been handed over to Delhi Police for further interrogation. IB and Special Cell officers are questioning him to determine his motive.”

The episode brought back memories of the December 13, 2023, breach, when two men entered the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery and released yellow smoke canisters, while two others attempted a similar act outside.

The incident also coincides with the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack on Parliament, raising serious security concerns.
