“Cooperative can play a vital role in empowering youth of the country, it can not only provide jobs, but also can provide a platform to showcase their creativity, talent and entrepreneurship skills,” said Manik Batra, during his address at 17th Indian Cooperative Congress.
“The cooperative movement has immense potential for promoting economic growth, social welfare, environmental sustainability, and cultural diversity. By embracing cross-sectoral collaborations that involve the participation, leadership, and creativity of youth, cooperatives can overcome the challenges facing them and realize their full potential,” Batra said.
Earlier, PM Modi also launched e-commerce platform ‘NCUI Haat’. The platform will help the Cooperatives to sell their products across geographies without any intermediaries. The platform will also provide complete training and capacity building support to the members for onboarding on the portal and in areas of packaging, branding, and accessing the welfare schemes of the government.
During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of harnessing technology to uplift millions of Cooperative Societies across India. This new platform seeks to bridge the digital divide and offer an accessible, user-friendly, and secure space for businesses to thrive in the ever-evolving online marketplace.
“The aim is also to eliminate the dependency on cash transactions. India’s dominance in Digital Transactions has become our identity in the world. This needs to be incorporated in our Cooperative sector as well,” PM said during his address.
