Bandipora: The Health Department has suspended a Medical Officer from District Hospital Bandipora for remaining absent from duty and skipping the Independence Day function despite explicit instructions to attend.
Officials said the officer failed to report for duty on August 14, disrupting patient care at the hospital. The next day, August 15, the officer also missed the Independence Day celebrations organised by the district administration—an act described as “serious misconduct and indiscipline.”
According to the suspension order issued by the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, the officer has been suspended with immediate effect. During the suspension period, they will be attached to the Head of the Ophthalmology Department at the hospital and will receive subsistence allowance as per rules.
Authorities stressed that absence from duty and disregard for national events will not be tolerated, warning of further strict action following the inquiry.
