Meta AI Introduces ‘Imagine Me’ Feature for WhatsApp, Instagram Users in India
Meta AI is rolling out a new feature called “Imagine Me” for users in India on WhatsApp, Instagram, and the Messenger app.
The Imagine Me tool is part of Meta AI’s chatbot, which can now be activated on WhatsApp and Instagram. This feature allows users to generate AI-generated images of themselves in various scenarios or outfits—essentially turning text prompts into personalized visual content.
In addition to WhatsApp and Messenger, users can also access this feature through the dedicated Meta AI app on their smartphones. Previously available only in the U.S., the feature has now expanded to India.
How Meta AI’s ‘Imagine Me’ Works
To create these AI visuals, Meta AI uses your facial data based on photos taken from multiple angles. For example, you can type a prompt like “Imagine me in a Ferrari” on WhatsApp, and Meta AI will generate an image of you in that setting.
To enable this, Meta AI will request your permission to access and analyze your facial features. These images are processed securely by the AI to personalize the output based on your prompt.
Meta has emphasized privacy safeguards. Only the account owner can generate images using Imagine Me, and just one face can be linked to an account. The feature cannot be used to create images of other people.
To make it clear that the outputs are AI-generated, the images will carry a distinct artificial look and won’t appear photorealistic. The Imagine Me feature is currently available for Android users in India, with iOS support expected to launch in the coming months.
