New Delhi/Leh: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday directed a complete suspension of mobile internet and public Wi-Fi services in Leh district, Ladakh, from the evening of September 29 until October 3, citing public safety and security concerns.

An official order issued by the MHA through the Joint Secretary (Cyber & Information Security) stated that mobile data services—including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G—as well as public Wi-Fi networks, will remain suspended from 6:00 PM on September 29 to 6:00 PM on October 3, 2025.

The suspension has been implemented under the Telecommunication Act, 2023, and the Telecommunications (Temporary Suspension of Services) Rules, 2024. The order noted that, due to “unavoidable circumstances,” immediate action was necessary to “avert public emergency and prevent incitement of offences.”

Approved by the competent authority, the order applies across the entire jurisdiction of Leh district.
