Srinagar: The city witnessed its first sub-zero night of the season as temperatures across most parts of Kashmir dropped below the freezing point, officials said on Monday.
According to the Meteorological Department, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 0.1°C on Sunday night — the first sub-zero and coldest night of the season so far. The temperature was two degrees below the seasonal average.
Except for Kokernag in south Kashmir, which recorded a minimum of 1.4°C, all other weather stations across the valley reported sub-zero temperatures.
The Pahalgam tourist resort recorded a low of minus 3.2°C, while the Gulmarg ski resort settled at minus 0.2°C. In other parts, Qazigund registered minus 0.9°C, and Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded minus 1.2°C, the MeT office said.
The department has forecast mainly dry weather across the valley till November 15, with a likelihood of a further dip in night temperatures in the coming days.
